Bodum
which was founded by Danish-man Peter Bodum in 1944 & is
100% family owned. It began by importing glassware from Eastern
Europe to sell in Denmark. Bodum products cover a diverse mix of basic designs ranging
from the famous Bistro coffee maker to the minimalist drinking
glasses, ‘Kvadrant’. Over the past two decades Bodum have
stuck to the core principals of simple effective design without
unnecessary adornment, using modern wholly suitable materials to
create useful everyday things at a reasonable price.

|
In
1958 the first Bodum designed product was put into retail shops.
It was the Santos glass coffee maker and was a huge success, it
is still sold in many Bodum outlets today, including Oasis Life
Style here in Muscat.
After Peter Bodum died in 1967, his son Jorgen took over the
running of the company and still owns it today. The Bistro
French Press Coffee maker was introduced in 1974 and was
designed by Danish designer Carsten Jorgensen, this was the
beginning of a lifelong partnership between the two men.
|
The
Bodum office eventually moved to Switzerland to focus on the
company’s international sales opportunities.
Bodum
opened its first own-store in 1986 in Neal Street, London. Today
Bodum has several home store shops plus many shop-in-shops in
department stores all around the world. Bodum’s product range
from Tea & Coffee related products to kitchen, bathroom and
home office accessories.
Each
range is given a specific name giving them a life and
personality of their own, these are usually connected with the
idea that inspired the design. It is also their goal to be an
inspiring organization focusing on people and their qualities.
Their slogan encapsulates the Bodum Lifestyle… “be
creative…be untraditional…be inspired…be Bodum”.
